Jesus Magaña

Co-Director

4th Year

Major: Human Biology & Chicano Studies

Minor: Public Health

I joined CHE to surround myself with other members who have the same goal as I do - to enter the health field as a Latino, POC, first-gen student. Representation of POC in the health field is very low, and CHE combats that perspective by bringing in guest speakers who identify or have experiences working with the same communities I have always been around. CHE is not only a student organization, rather, its also a start of a fostering environment that will motivate everyone to enter the health field.

Mentorship Liaison

4th Year

Major: Human Development

I joined CHE because I wanted to be a part of a group of first-generation Latinx/Chicanx students who may be feeling lost in our journey through pre-health. I also wanted to join to provide pre-health students with any and all networking opportunities and resources that would become foundational for their success in their dream health career.

Alan Nava

I joined CHE so I could be in a community of like minded people and support each other on our path into the health professions!

Alejandro Tapia

Webmaster|C0-Publicist

3nd Year

Major: Global Disease Biology & Psychology

I joined CHE because as a first-generation college student who wants to pursue a health profession, I know it is difficult to find resources and others who relate to the same situation. CHE is filled with people who are all working towards the same goal making it easier to connect with other students and relate to guest professionals who come speak to the organization.

Historian|Co-Publicist

2nd Year

Major: Biomedical Engineering

I joined CHE because I wanted to connect with students and professionals whom I identify with. I believe it is important to share resources and help present opportunities to my peers; those which could help us reach our future career goals.

Esmeralda Albor

Secretary

3rd Year

Major: Psychology (biological emphasis)

I joined CHE because being a first-generation, pre-med college student has made me feel alone throughout my journey. CHE has allowed me to meet others who have similar interests and goals but most importantly a support system. I know that it can be difficult trying to figure things out alone with no guidance, but being a part of CHE means helping others find resources and making sure they do not feel alone.

Marco Jimenez

Fundraising Chair

2nd Year

Major: Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior

I joined CHE to find a community of peers with similar career interests and background. As a first-generation student pursuing a career in health, I’ve often found myself feeling alone and not knowing what to do or who to talk to. Through CHE, I hope to make this journey a more comfortable experience for both myself and others :)

Jessica Cuevas

Treasurer

2nd  Year

Major: Biological Science

I decided to join CHE in the beginning of the fall quarter because of the multiple resources I saw CHE provided on their Instagram page. For example, during general meetings guest speakers and health programs who are part of the health field come in to talk about their personal experience and the multiple opportunities that are provided at UC Davis. CHE is a support system for the Chicanx community that are interested in the health field. CHE aims to support and create an area where members can connect to volunteering opportunities and benefits. CHE has various well-rounded members and I instantly noticed they wanted the best for their club. For this reason, I was eager to become more involved and excited to be part of the board.
